6:55pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Palm Desert, California, USA, Monday night, March 20, 2023. It was rainy and cold in Dana Point when I woke this morning. It didn’t get better taking my daughter to school, though the skies did clear slightly by late morning. Dark, ominous clouds loomed on the horizon driving through Riverside this afternoon but, they didn’t produce much rain. Shortly before Morongo things cleared up, except for the wind, which remained strong. As a result, Palm Desert has had dust storms since I got here. Looks like it will be another week of allergy medicine and runny noses.
Month: March 2023
Important day
8:19pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Sunday night, March 19, 2023. Went for a walk this morning then, picked up coffee and donuts for the family. Spent the afternoon with my daughter and her friend, completing math homework online. Now, I am finishing laundry and plotting activities for the upcoming month. Not an overly ambitious day but, and important one nonetheless.,
Much needed rest
8:43pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Saturday night, March 18, 2023. Woke up with a headache this morning. I am thinking the dust from moving was a bit much for my sinuses. As a result, I didn’t do anything other than unpack and watch basketball. My daughter stopped by briefly this afternoon. Once she left, I returned to bed and haven’t left since. Tomorrow should be better for running errands and getting out. I will write today off as a time of much needed rest and start over the morning.
St Patrick’s Day, 2023
9:03pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Friday night, March 17, 2023, St. Patrick’s Day. Got to Orange County early this afternoon. I took a nap then picked my daughter up from school. We ran to the apartment in Aliso Viejo, traded cars with her mom and loaded the old television in the back. Then, my daughter and I came to Dana Point and exchanged the tv for the bigger version I had in Arizona. She is happy, so am I. I am not here enough to warrant keeping the large screen and she really wanted it. All worked out for the best. On another note: Turns out I don’t need to order home internet, I can use the hotspot on my phone. Not sure if it is a long term solution but, it is better than paying $100 a month or not having internet at all. Which seemed like the only two options just a couple days ago.
Basketball and taxes
7:12pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Palm Desert, California, USA, Thursday night, March 16, 2023. Today is the first day of the college basketball tournament. Lots of people filling out brackets and talking trash. All in good fun, of course. I picked up pizza and soda on the way back to the hotel and watched the games while I ate. Pizza is my go to basketball watching meal. That, and ice cream for dessert. Unfortunately, the hotel room doesn’t have a freezer so, I had cookies instead. Work was slow this afternoon, which gave me time to start my taxes. Good news; I don’t owe the government any money this year. I just have to figure out what to do with one final form. Then, an accountant will review my numbers. Once she says it looks good I will submit the return and be done for the year.
6:32pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Palm Desert, California, USA, Wednesday night, March 15, 2023. Attended all my meetings today and turned in my reports. Tomorrow, I present my financial information, then the week finishes pretty easily. It has been an emotional last couple of days. Too many life worries all at once. The weekend is in sight. A couple days getting settled in Dana Point will do wonders for my countenance.
Low key day
6:33pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Palm Desert, California, USA, Tuesday evening, March 14, 2023. Not too happened today. Woke up, worked out, ate breakfast, went to meetings, drove to Palm Desert in the rain, ate dinner. Now I am watching basketball. Just a low key day.
In San Bernardino
6:11pm, pacific standard time, apartment in San Bernardino, California, USA, Monday evening, March 12, 2023. I am currently in San Bernardino, California. There is a one day Director meeting that starts at 8:30am tomorrow morning. All the branch leaders from across the state traveled in today and are staying at local hotels. Last week there was talk of a group dinner happening tonight but, I am not sure if it materialized. Either way, it is alright. I stayed in my room and ordered delivery. I figure I will spend all day with them tomorrow, no need to go out and socialize tonight. After the meeting I head to Palm Desert. Frankly, I am glad it is a short week. I am becoming more convinced a Director needs to be found soon, both for me and for the office. They need a permanent leader that is going to take the reins and help then realize their potential. The longer I stay in place the harder it will be to transition once someone is hired.
Move in, an emotional day
6:42pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Sunday night. March 12, 2023. Movers just arrived with the furniture. Now they are unloading. My daughter and her mom are going to stop by in a little bit. They are eager to see the new apartment. It isn’t very impressive but, the location is great. Personally, I am trying to sort out my emotions. Leaving Arizona was hard but, settling back into Orange County is exciting. Right now, the future and the past are racing through my mind and pinging my heart. It has been an emotional day.

What to do with my last night in Arizona?
6:10pm, mountain standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Saturday evening, March 11, 2023. The confirmation email I received yesterday said the movers would arrive between 8am and 9am. At 10:30am they called to say they would show up at 3:30pm. They didn’t get here until 5:15pm. I was a little annoyed but, the delay gave me a chance to have lunch with family and run errands. I was going to leave once the truck was loaded but, now I will stay another night and head to Orange County in the morning. I am trying to decide what to do with my last night in Arizona. I don’t want to stay in an empty apartment but, I am not sure how adventurous I feel. I have a couple hours to decide.
