Going to buy a book

4:37pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Sunday afternoon, September 4, 2022. Today was the hottest morning I can recall in Dana Point; 81 degrees before the sun came up. Luckily, the heat peaked early but, it is still warm outside. I went for a walk and worked out this morning but haven’t done much else. I am going to go out and buy a book.

Saturday night

6:11pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Saturday night, September 3, 2022. Took the dog for a full walk this morning, got coffee, worked out, did laundry and grocery shopping. Now waiting for pizza to arrive, sipping a beer and watching football.

Exciting weekend

5:20pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Saturday evening, August 27, 2022. Heading to Scottsdale to have dinner with a friend. Tomorrow, I will drive to Orange County, California to stay with my daughter before traveling to Dublin, California for work. Exciting weekend, lots going on.

Before me now

4:06pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Friday afternoon, August 26, 2022. The last fourteen years have been spent prioritizing emotionally what once was, rather than looking forward to what can be. I don’t blame myself; the heart wants what it wants. But I am tired of lamenting loss and scheming to regain the past. I want to focus on the present and experience the gifts which lie before me now.

Time to slow down

6:14pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Sunday evening, August 21, 2022. Went for a walk this morning, worked out, ran to the store then did a couple loads of laundry. Once we got everything taken care of I took my daughter to dinner. We are in for the night now. Time to slow down and prepare for the week to come.

Exciting end

8:54pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, Thursday night, August 18, 2022. It is my daughter’s birthday today. I left Arizona around 10am and got to Orange County shortly before five. We went to dinner at a local sushi restaurant, then came home for cake with friends. Tomorrow is the first day of high school for my daughter. All in all, it is an exciting end to the week.

Nice to keep busy

5:40pm, pacific standard time, mall in Mission Viejo, California, USA, Sunday evening, August 14, 2022. Took my daughter and her friend out to run errands and shop for birthday presents. We have been out of the house since one pm today. It is nice to keep busy; helps ward off Sunday afternoon anxiety. We will leave shortly, take the friend home, then head back to the apartment to get ready for the week.

A new chapter of my life

5:40pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Friday evening, August 12, 2022. Spent the day doing laundry and getting ready to leave. I will be in California the next two weeks for work and to visit family. In many ways a new chapter of my life begins tomorrow. Time to get started.

Excited to get started

5:03pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Thursday evening, August 11, 2022. Had a good conversation with the hiring manager for my new position this morning. I will begin training in Palm Desert, California on Monday and probably spend the first week or two there. Then I will likely be assigned somewhere in Northern California. I was excited to learn Monday and Friday are considered travel days, which makes things infinitely easier on me and my family. This opportunity is turning out to be a true blessing. I am excited to get started.

If only

Then had a coffee appointment at 9am with a salesperson for the company I am joining. After that I pretty much wrote all day with a quick break to workout. If only everyday could be like today.
