March 12, 2025, Wednesday night, 7:01pm,pacific standard time, parking lot of school of rock, San Juan Capistrano,California,USA. I knew going into this job the branch was in a tough spot. They had a tri-annual survey with serious issues in key areas, staff turnover was high and quality scores were low. What I didn’t know is the branch is the lowest performing one financially in the entire company. This morning the senior Vice President sent out an email regarding repayment penalties and Orange County was by far the worst. Later today he sent notice he is coming to town next week. Then the division President got on our afternoon marketing call to hear what we are working on. Right now we are ground zero for executive leadership oversight. The spotlight is white hot. I guess I wanted an opportunity to prove my worth. Here it is.

Sunday morning
March 9, 2025,Sunday morning,9:11am,pacific standard time,office building parking lot,Laguna Niguel,,California, USA. My daughter called around six last night and wanted to drive around. I got dressed and picked her up. We ended up in Foothill Ranch and got a daiquiri ice from Baskin Robbins. I slept in this morning. Plus, it is the start of daylight savings so I am really out of my routine. Right now I am gathering energy to take the dog for a walk after finishing my workout at Planet Fitness.
Saturday
March 8, 2025, Saturday afternoon,4:49pm,pacific standard time,bedroom of apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. I decided for the rest of the night I am going to stay in the back half of the apartment. I shut the bedroom door and won’t leave until morning. It feels strange to sequester myself but at the same time it feels like a mini-vacation. Almost hotel like. It has been a good day. Got up around six, hung out in the apartment then walked on the treadmill at the gym. Afterwards I went to Aliso Viejo, took the dog for a walk, got my daughter lunch, hung out at the office parking lot in Laguna Niguel, bought some jerky and fresh berries at Albertsons, then came home. Now I am going to read and enjoy the sunset.
CEO visit
March 3,2025, Monday night,7:51pm,pacific standard time,apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. Today the company CEO visited our branch. He spent the afternoon meeting with office leadership and a couple marketing reps. I thought it went very well and told him so. He agreed. At 5pm we left for a short drive to the city of Orange for dinner with our medical director. All in all it was a good day.
What I always wanted
February 27, 2025, Thursday night, 6:07, pacific standard time, parking lot of apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. I am starting to lose my momentum with this job. I have been a Director for over four years now and the time commitment of being in an office all day has worn out my patience. But, I am thankful for my current frame of mind and the amount of creative energy flowing through me. I guess in the end something has to be loved and something has to be loathed. When I think that about that trade off I can accept the arrangement. I wanted a base salary job with benefits and a good side hustle. The equation is coming to fruition with this hob and the affirmation book.
Tuesday
February 25,2025, Tuesday evening, 5:46pm,pacific standard time, apartment in Aliso Viejo, California,USA. Stopped by the apartment in Aliso Viejo to see my daughter. She wasn’t home because she went to dinner with her mom. I took the dog for a walk instead. I will wait until they get home. I didn’t get to see my daughter yesterday not did I take her to school this morning like I usually do on Tuesdays. Just as well to hang out here than go back to to an empty apartment in Dana Point.
Monday
February 24, 2025, Monday night, 5:57pm, pacific standard time, apartment parking lot in Dana point, California, USA. Received word the CEO of the company will visit our office next week. I look forward to meeting him. The new Director of clinical care started today. That will make my job easier. Finally, I start my first week as administrator on call. Hopefully it isn’t too busy. Yesterday, I started sorting my personal affirmations. A bunch came to me throughout the day. I am keeping a running list on my computer and my phone.
A couple more days
6:47pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Palm Desert, California, USA, Tuesday evening, January 31, 2023. I didn’t leave the office all day except for a short walk in the morning. There were too many meetings scheduled back to back and the only window available to step out occurred when everyone else had already left for lunch. It is alright, I survived. There are only two full days left in my work week. After tomorrow and Thursday I will hit the road Friday morning. The weeks feel shorter now which reduces my anxiety. I can survive a couple more days and make it to the weekend.
The fifth Monday in January
5:35pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Palm Desert, California, USA, Monday night, January 30, 2023. Today is the fifth Monday of January. Which makes a long month feel even longer. Add overcast skies with drizzling rain and you have a very depressing day. I took my daughter to school this morning and drove to Palm Desert this afternoon. Work was slow so I left early to grab dinner and get settled. I am staying at another new hotel. This is a vacation club type resort, which is the third resort I have stayed at in Palm Desert. Of the three I like this one the best. It has a good energy, it is close to the office and the room is spacious. Hopefully, the week will go smooth and this trip will be a good one.
January 29, a nice weekend
5:54pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Aliso Viejo, California, USA, Sunday evening, January 29, 2023. There was no baseball game yesterday. Rather, the teams practiced technique and reviewed fundamentals. It was still a fun time and my daughter did well in every aspect. This morning, we got up early and went to a movie in Irvine. Afterwards, I dropped her off and ran errands by myself. All in all it was a nice weekend. Now the skies have turned gray and a little rain is falling. The forecast calls for precipitation tomorrow as well. My trip to Palm Desert might be interesting if it keeps up.
