6:47pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Palm Desert, California, USA, Tuesday evening, January 31, 2023. I didn’t leave the office all day except for a short walk in the morning. There were too many meetings scheduled back to back and the only window available to step out occurred when everyone else had already left for lunch. It is alright, I survived. There are only two full days left in my work week. After tomorrow and Thursday I will hit the road Friday morning. The weeks feel shorter now which reduces my anxiety. I can survive a couple more days and make it to the weekend.

Foundation is set
6:19am, pacific standard time, hotel in Palm Desert, California, USA, Thursday evening, December 1, 2022. We celebrated the company name change and new branding initiative today. There was cake, a sparkling cider toast and nice catered lunch. Afterwards, we convened in the conference room for a staff meeting. I must say, though preparation for today was exhausting, the end result was positive. Everyone enjoyed the festivities and engaged in team building activities. The foundation is now set for a new beginnings this month and for upward growth next year.
A round of applause
6:17pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Dublin, California, USA,, Wednesday evening, October 26, 2022. Today, at the end of a meeting, I got a round of applause. We were wrapping up when a team member thanked me for my presence the past few months. That led to the subsequent ovation. The compliment and the applause were unexpected, but welcome. My time in Dublin has been wonderful. I learned valuable lessons while providing calm leadership. Now we part ways, at least for the time being. Though I look forward to the future I will miss the people I worked with and the friendships I made.
I am drained
5:49pm, pacific standard time, hotel in San Bernardino, California, USA, Tuesday evening, September 13, 2022. Today started with me conducting an emotionally charged meeting. By the time it was over I felt exhausted. But with no time to regroup I went to the branch office and did one-on-one training for seven hours. Now I am drained. The rest of my evening is dinner and sports television followed by reading a new book.
Hot today
6:07pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Friday evening, September 2, 2022. Hot today. Took my daughter to school, hosted a call for the Dublin site, answered emails, then came back to the apartment. The rest of the day was spent helping around the house, mostly setting up a portable air conditioner which was very much needed.
Leftover pizza
5:12pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Sunday evening, June 26, 2022. The recruiter I have been working with for the past month texted again today. He said a meeting could be set for this coming Thursday afternoon in Riverside, California, if I was available. I texted back saying yes, I could be there Thursday afternoon. A shirt while later the hiring manager emailed a calendar invite so, we are good to go for Thursday. I will leave Chandler, Arizona Wednesday morning and stay the night close to the office in Riverside. That way, after the meeting, I can continue on to Orange County, California to celebrate the holiday with family. Other than that today was good; coffee with a friend this morning, a little shopping this afternoon and a lot of leftover pizza for dinner.
Best to be prepared
4:39pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2022. The recruiter I have been working with for the Riverside, California job reached out to me this afternoon, asking when I could be available for a future in-person meeting. I offered a couple days next week and one after the upcoming holiday. He told me things were progressing smoothly and this should be the last step. I am starting to feel confident. So confident that today I began pricing houses and scouting areas to live. It is best to be prepared for any contingency in a situation like this.
Glacier slow
5:25pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Friday evening, June 24, 2022. Two interviews today; first was the fourth in a series with one of the two Riverside, California groups. The meeting went well, good conversation between me and the regional Human Resources Director. From what he shared I am their choice and an offer should be coming by the end of next week. The second interview did not go so well. It was for the other Riverside, California position. There were a lot of red flags with that outfit to begin with (posting and hiring behind someone’s back) and the conversation with the Chief Marketing Officer was less than impressive. I will not move forward with them. No word on the Client Success Executive position. I assume it is a no go but, you never know. Seems employers disappear for days, even weeks, then contact me again out of the blue. Finally, the Rancho Cucamonga, California team got back to me this morning but, they don’t want to meet until the week after next. Crazy. Is it just me or is every hiring process going glacier slow these days? I don’t think I have interviewed this much in my life without getting at least one offer.
Thursday morning check in
I am in my office South Phoenix at 8:48am. I have an office meeting at 9am so not much time to write. After the meeting I am going to head north to meet with a provider that could refer patients. Sometimes I dread meetings but this one doesn’t bother me. I am happy to get out of the office and meet someone new. I consider this morning to have gone well. I was happy to have written the post earlier. After that I showered, made the bed, fed Tiki the fish and headed to work. My car was filthy and has been bugging me. I couldn’t take it any more so i got gas and put my car through the wash for a quick rinse. After i got to work i did the morning stand up call and went through paperwork. Now I am sipping coffee and writing this post.
