Evanston, Wyoming
6:41pm, mountain standard time, mom’s house, Evanston, Wyoming, USA, Thursday evening, October 27, 2022. Finished up in Dublin this morning then caught a plane to Salt Lake City. My mom picked me up at the airport and we drove the hour to my hometown of Evanston. It has been two years since I last visited. A lot of memories are coming back; some good, some not so good. All it all, it is nice to be here. Tomorrow we will drive to West Wendover, Nevada, gamble a little and enjoy some time together.
Some days are better than others
7:29pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Dublin, California, USA, Monday night, September 27, 2022. Long day. Woke up at 5:30am to get to the airport in time for phones calls and meetings. Then I flew in to Las Vegas, Nevada to catch a connection to Sacramento, California. By the time I landed in Sacramento my phone was inundated with staffing issues and payroll problems. I scrambled to get my luggage, rental car and a good enough wifi signal to finish some work. By the time I got to the hotel I was physically exhausted. And yet my phone keeps ringing. Some days are better than others. Today was no fun at all.
Utah update: May 15
7:13am, pacific standard time, airport in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, Sunday morning, May 15, 2022. We left Henderson early yesterday morning and drove straight to Mesquite, Nevada. After gambling a little our trip continued north. We arrived in Salt Lake City at 4pm. For dinner we selected burgers and beers downturn. When we finished mom was tired and wanted to turn in for the evening. I dropped her off at the hotel and continued on alone, driving around for a couple of hours, visiting various places, taking stock of what was new. So much has changed since I lived here, yet it all looks so familiar. A lot of memories are rushing through my mind right now. It is an emotional morning.
Nevada check in, May 14
7:16am, pacific standard time, hotel in Henderson, Nevada, USA, Saturday morning, May 14, 2022. We got on the road around 11am yesterday. After settling into the hotel, we hit an Irish pub up the road for some Guinness and watched basketball before turning in. Taking my mom back is a little depressing-I have gotten used to her being around-but we are enjoying the trip so far.
A moment of balance
5:40am, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Monday morning, May 2, 2022. The trip with my mom from Henderson, Nevada to Chandler was more taxing than anticipated yesterday. We got in around 1pm, rested, then got dinner and watched a movie. All things considered, it was a good day. Right now I am enjoying a moment of balance; life is not overwhelmingly great but, many aspects feel calm. I can bear my job, I am at peace with my relationships, I appreciate the place I live, I accept my past and look forward to a bright future.

Palm desert
9:31am made it to palm desert. Enjoying the drive. Memories of being a sales leader for skilled nursing. I realize I don’t say much about that. The memories are not on par with being the chaplain but it is the second most valued work experience. I traveled around California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona. Also went to Ohio, Michigan, Washington, Colorado for that job. Palm desert was one of my buildings. I stayed here often. Feels comfortable.
