1:29pm, office in Phoenix, Arizona, Thursday afternoon, March 17, 2022. Just got off a corporate conference call. Not a lot of new information was shared, but it was still good to hear updates from senior leadership. I had to rush to the office to make it in back in time. My marketing team set up an appointment to provide an educational lunch at a doctors office today. I would have had to cancel but because I didn’t have to set up or tear down I was able to attend and still make the call. The presentation at the doctors office went well, it should produce some positive relationships.

Finally
6:46pm, in my apartment, Chandler, Arizona, Thursday evening, December 16, 2021. Why was today so good? What made the morning start positive and how did it continue throughout the day? I have felt unfulfilled for so long it seemed interminable. I never want to feel that way again.
Conquer Insecurity
7:52pm, in my apartment, Chandler, Arizona, Monday night, December 13, 2021. And there, as always, in the burning heat of my acid filled throat, is constant insecurity. It drowns my soul with fire and saps my will to live. What could I achieve if I was free of its burden? Would I live a life of breezy confidence, filled with decisive choices and positive results? Could I ultimately vanquish crushing doubt and avoid nagging fear? Can I finally have positive human interactions and accept my place in the world? At some point one of us will win; Insecurity will exact it’s final price on my soul or I will escape my vexing, inevitable plight. Either way we are in a pitched mortal battle. And though the odds are against me, I will be victorious. Because of one thing I am absolutely sure; I will either conquer insecurity or I will die trying.
The energy was positive and good
4:16pm, in my office, Phoenix Arizona, Tuesday afternoon, December 7, 2021. Most of the nursing staff came to the office this morning for training. We gathered around the conference table to learn and share breakfast. Afterwards the office staff joined us along with two new hires (for pre-employment drug screens) The energy was positive and good. I liked seeing everyone and being together.
Holding on
5:32 on the walk this morning you made an observation. You were thinking about making more money and retiring debt. As you thought about your money strategy you felt alive. Your energy flowed positive. Solving the issue is an engaging adventure. When you focus on the dilemma your anxiety melts away. On the other hand when you think about “holding on” the opposite is true. Holding on is trying to maintain a job, stay in an apartment or live in a certain city. Holding on makes you vulnerable. It poisons your energy. It invites attack. It makes bosses and circumstances adversaries that must be endured. Holding on doesn’t last long and it is tortuous. You vow right now to stay focused on the situation at hand and not just hold on.
Chaplain
2:15pm at lunch today I looked into being a chaplain. I have my degree. I have a work history. I have done clinical pastoral education. One thing I am missing is endorsement from an outside group. I checked out humanism. According to The Humanist Society “Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism and other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of self fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity” They have an endorsement that is aligned with the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). APC is the top board certification for chaplains. I need to do this. My energy flows positive when I imagine myself a chaplain/writer. I am tired of feeling like shit for money.
Positive news
8:27am I am energized by positive news. I am confident. Prepared. Uplifted. I can adapt and persevere
You don’t get to choose
You don’t get to choose what changes. Something good will come from change and something will be sacrificed. Change does not automatically mean better, it means different. The positive side of change is if a situation feels stagnate and painful the possibility of something new is mostly positive. I made the decision about my job. I spent a lot of money and ended up with different problems because of the change. But when I look back at it I am glad I made the change. I feel better and more alive dealing with the latter rather than the former.
