Invigorated by the process

5:20pm, pacific standard time, pool at the apartment complex, Chandler, Arizona, USA, Tuesday evening, August 2, 2022. I spent a couple of hours today working on the piece I resurrected back in June. Working on it is different than anything I have done the past 20+ years of writing. In those instances I was alone in the act of creation; trying to use my skills, my imagination, my tenacity and anything else I could muster to make something out of nothing. This piece feels separate from me, almost like a gift. It exists as a wonderful story on its own. My purpose is not to birth it out of alchemy but rather, to spend time making it as beautiful as possible. Subsequently, I am invigorated by the process and excited to see the finished product.

Transformation

I am beginning to see everyday the process of transformation. 2 1/2 years ago I thought the process would be simple and easy. It has not. I constantly am pulled back to security and comfort in a job that does not provide it. I must let go but many factors, most importantly money keep me stuck in past energy. I am inching toward a new career and existence.

2 types

My sweatshirt says coach. Everything about me says I am here to help you reach your goals. There are two types of people that need coaching. First people that don’t know what their sweatshirt says or they want it to say. They need help going through the process of chafing their mindset and liking at the world of objectives.

Second are people that tell me exactly what their sweatshirt says, I can see it but they want an extra set of eyes to keep them focused during the process.

Systematic Change and the Bending of Wood

If you want to change the shape of wood the best technique is to first cut it into small strips ¼ to 1/8 of an inch. That makes the wood more pliable. You then take each individual piece and glue or epoxy them together to create a whole. Next using clamps the piece is fitted to a form and allowed to set. Depending on the type of wood the entire process might take hours to days.
I think about this process when I make changes in my life. When I was younger I expected change to hit like a lightning bolt, massive, instant and complete. And to a certain extent it was true. That is because my mind was not set in its ways. I was more open to new habits and activities.
As I have gotten older I have noticed that change is a more systematic process, one I must deliberately undertake. I break down the components of change into manageable areas. I then examine it as a whole and allow time to pass. When I have done this I can become who I want to be and achieve the objectives I set out to achieve.
