Staff meeting today, payroll due tomorrow, interdisciplinary meetings Thursday. And I am on call this week. I feel pretty good. Just a lot going on. Finished working out at the complex gym. Now going to Aliso to see my daughter.

July 20,2026, Monday evening, 5:16pm, pacific standard time, gym at office complex, Costa Mesa, California, USA. My daughter passed her drivers test this morning. She is an official California driver. We spent the last six months preparing for today. I am happy for her and a little nostalgic. She has her freedom, which means she doesn’t need me to drive her to appointments or engagements. I wasn’t prepared for this milestone. I thought graduating high school or turning 18 would be the biggest milestones. Rather, it is her getting her drivers license that changes life the most.

July 19,2026, Sunday morning, 7:19am, pacific standard time, Planet Fitness, Laguna Niguel, California, USA. The gate was open on Santa Clara this morning. In all the years I have lived here I have never seen that. Not sure if it is a one time thing or a permanent change. It makes sense. Gives traffic an alternate route rather than going back to PCH. I decided on my walk this morning not to use my headphones. I needed time to contemplate and sort out my thoughts. It was a good change of pace.

July 18,2026, Saturday afternoon, 4:53pm, pacific standard time, Planet Fitness, Laguna Niguel, California, USA. Got my mom’s condo rented and received the dust months rent. Still a couple odds and ends to sort out but officially it is producing revenue. That is good because getting it ready cost a fair amount of money. I spent this morning working on paying mom’s bills and getting something life details worked out. Then I took her shopping at Kohl’s, Walmart, and Pavilions. After a quick nap I headed to the gym. Tonight will take my daughter driving to practice for her driving exam on Monday.

July 17,2026, Friday morning, 2:49am, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. I went to EOS the last three mornings to walk and workout. My back is still out but getting better. I will take it easy the next couple days to minimize exertion and promote the healing process. This was an early morning. Mom opened a can of cat food that stunk up the entire house. The smell woke me up and I couldn’t get back to sleep. I hadn’t realized my fan was broken and my air purifier turned off until then so I got up, took out the trash and threw away the food and can. The house smells much better now. On a personal note: talking to potential renters for the Wyoming condo. They are going to check it out at 10am mountain.

July 15-16,2026, Thursday morning, 7:26am, pacific standard time, office in Costa Mesa, California,USA. This week has been a slog. I just never got back to feeling fresh since the weekend. I don’t want to look forward to rest but I need a couple days off. My back went out yesterday and that adds to the feeling of being run down.

July 14,2026, Tuesday afternoon, 1:29pm, pacific standard time, office in Costa Mesa, California,USA. Got the house cleaned today. Mom said it looks good. I will be curious to see how it turned out. This was the first proper cleaning I have had done since I moved in. I am usually not there for it to matter but with mom and the cat also in the house it definitely was time for some tidying up.

July 13,2026, Monday morning, 4:45am, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. We got in to Dana point at 6:30 last. Spent about an hour unloading the car. Afterwards, mom and I took the minivan back to the rental place while my daughter and her mom dropped off the friends. By the time we picked up my car in Aliso and drove back it was 9pm. July 12,2026, Sunday morning, 5:56am, pacific standard time, Hampton Inn, room 136, Mesquite, Nevada, USA. We got on the road a littler later than anticipated yesterday after visiting the cemetery in Evanston. By the time we got to Salt Lake City it was noon. We had loaded up on food and drinks and were just about to leave when a woman pulled up and begged us to call 911. Apparently she had been hiking and got over heated. We supported her and gave her cold water until the paramedics arrived and took her to the hospital. After that the drive was fine. We stopped in Nephi, beaver, and a rest stop along the way. When we arrived in Mesquite no one felt like going to dinner so we had chipotle delivered. I did make a quick trip to Walmart next door to get wine for mom. I also walked in the treadmill for an hour. Now, the dig and I just finished our morning walk. We are hanging out in the room, relaxing until breakfast opens and we head back to Orange County.

July 11,2026, Saturday morning, 6:43am, mountain standard time, Hampton Inn, Evanston, Wyoming, room 203. Yesterday (july 10) the dog and I started the day with some early morning road work in St George. We got in the road at 9am. First stop was gas and coffee in cedar city. Then another stop at Love’s in Fillmore. Then it was In & Out burgers in Orem. We got into Evanston at 4 then went to the condo. There we packed up the rest of mom’s stuff and visited with friends. After grabbing dinner from dominos and Taco Bell we came back to the hotel. The dog and I walked past the golf course then went to bed. It was a long day. Everyone is a little tired and grouchy.
