San Diego

August 3,2025,Sunday night,6:46pm,pacific standard time,Omni Hotel, San Diego, California,USA. Made it to San Diego for a two day/three night company conference. Doing something different on a Sunday feels good. I rode down with the director of community development so I didn’t have to worry about travel. Today has been a good day. Woke up around 5:30am, did the Blue Lantern walk, worked out at planet fitness, took the dog for a walk past the dog park in Aliso Viejo then did laundry and packed. At 2pm I took my daughter to get coffee in Laguna Niguel. Now that I am checked in I will rest for the remainder of the night. With meetings and dinners the next two days will be busy.

Doheny Beach

August 2,2025,Saturday night, 6:19pm,pacific standard time,Doheny Beach, Dana Point, California, USA. Woke up early this morning and did the walk to the walk then the Blue Lantern walk. When I got home I signed up for a seven day trial membership to EOS gym in San Clemente. I did a chest workout there. It wasn’t too bad. I like Planet Fitness but the limited hours are frustrating whereas EOS is 24 hours. I went to Planet fitness later in the morning and walked an hour on the treadmill. When I got home I was worn out. I took a nap, did some work and then picked up my daughter to get drinks at Starbucks in Laguna Niguel and wash the car in Aliso Viejo. I planned on taking the dog for a walk this afternoon but it was too hot. I will take her early tomorrow before the marine layer burns off. I walked to the beach this evening. It has been a while since I have been here. I forgot how nice it is to be close to the water. Finally, I had a talk about finances with my daughters mom. Her job has ended so we will have to adjust our living situation. What they looks like is still up in the air.

Friday

August 1,2025,Friday night,7:26pm,pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. Got up at 1:15 this morning but it was just too early. I tidied up the house for 20 minutes then dozed until 2:30am. At that point I did the Blue Lantern walk then came home and did a biceps/shoulder workout. Around six I snoozed for a half hour before showering and heading to work. I dropped off Buffalo Wild Wings for my daughter and her friend tonight before coming home. Now I am going to read and watch videos before turning in for the night.

Office

July 31,2025,Thursday afternoon,1:58pm,pacific standard time,office in Costa Mesa, California,USA. Things are slowing down today. It has been an anxiety inducing week for now particular reason. I Slept in again this morning and did the treadmill walk at the gym. I just couldn’t rouse myself out of bed at 3:30am. Now work is quiet. I am watching time go slowly. I am going to head home tonight and try to get to bed early tonight. I want to get up and have some free time in tomorrow morning.

Wednesday

July 30,2025,Wednesday evening,6:08pm,pacific standard time, parking lot,school of rock,SanJuanCapistrano, California, USA. Yesterday at work we got Nothing Bundt Cakes to celebrate staff birthdays. I ate a slice and it made me shaky. Today we had a taste test with three different leftover flavors. Now I am really shaky. Other than that it was an alright day. Got up at 3:30am, did the Blue Lantern walk and back workout at Planet Fitness. We conducted three chaplain interviews via zoom today. Those made me nostalgic for days past. I Went to a Skilled nursing facility in Orange to meet with their staff. Then at the end of the day we had a incident that brought our collective mood down. A document was mis-dated and flagged by compliance. We got reprimanded for the issue. Lastly, on my drive home I looked in the rear view mirror and saw I had a big peanut skin stuck in my teeth. It probably had been there for hours. That wasn’t good. Now I am waiting for my daughter to finish singing lessons then I am going to take her home and call it a day.

Which routine

July 29,2025,Tuesday night,7:46pm,pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. I did the 5am gym routine for the second morning in a row. I just couldn’t get out of bed before 4:30am. I like the extra hour of sleep, walking on the treadmill and listening to my sports news but I also miss my outdoor walk and morning leisure time. It is always a trade off. If I get up early I have brain fog all day. When I get up later I have anxiety because I don’t do enough self-care. Tomorrow is a gym day regardless since it is a back workout. Either I get up at 3:30am to do the blue lantern walk and a quick visit to planet fitness or I do the 5am gym time for a third straight day.

Monday

July 28,2025,Monday evening,7:11pm,pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. I slept in this morning and ended up doing my old treadmill/lift weights routine at Planet Fitness. I enjoy that workout but it leaves me no time in the morning. When I was done I had to rush home, shower and quickly head to the office. The day did seem to go faster at least. Probably because I wasn’t up for hours prior like I unusually am. On a personal note I spoke with a mortgage company about a loan today. Turns out if you haven’t owned a home in the past three years you are considered a first time home buyer. That could work to my advantage. I will see what I qualify for. I really want to buy something. It would be nice to own property and be able to pass it on to my daughter.

Sunday

July 27,2025,Sunday afternoon,4:52pm,pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California. Took my car to Big O in Aliso Viejo. Four new tires, alignment and $1,000+ later it is like new. Also, I opened a Robinhood account this morning. I now have shares of bitcoin, etherium and United Healthcare. I only put a couple hundred dollars in but I am glad I finally started investing. I am going to look at index funds and ETFs to see what I want to invest in next.

Tire trouble

July 26,2025,Saturday night,8:54pm,pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. Took my daughter to get ice cream this evening. Halfway there we heard a distressing flapping noise from the right rear tire. I pulled into a residential area and examined the situation. The tire was intact but a thin strand of tread ripped off and was slapping against the car as we drove. I got the spare out and after much effort got it on the car. However, it was completely flat and not safe to drive. I jacked the car up again and put the comprised tire back on and drove slowly to the nearest gas station, filled the spare with air then put it on the car. It was quite the learning experience. When I first started the adventure I struggled to properly put the jack under the car and turn the handle efficiently. By the third time I was a master.

Friday

July 25,2025, Friday night, 6:39pm,pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA. I went to bed with a headache last night. My thinking was it would go away in my sleep but that wasn’t the case at all. I woke up at 10:30pm in such pain I had to get out of bed and take ibuprofen. A half hour later I got up again and took DayQuil. Then I slept on the leather couch for a while because it was cooler. I didn’t wake up until 3:45am and didn’t have the energy to go for a walk. Which means I really didn’t feel good because I always get a walk in. I did do a chest/tricep workout because I knew I would feel antsy otherwise. Luckily work was low key. The big drama was getting the dog to the groomer and almost having to pick her up because my daughters mom wasn’t answering her phone. Fortunately she she answered and went to get the dog before I had to head that way.
