A practical note

6:06pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Dublin, California, USA, Tuesday evening, August 30, 2022. Spent the day meeting with employees and getting to processes. Overall things should go well. It isn’t perfect but not unmanageable. On a practical note, I was excited to learn the office building has a gym. Everything at the hotel is nice, except the fitness center is terrible.

Dublin, California

5:13pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Dublin, California, USA, Monday evening, August 29, 2022. Took my daughter to school this morning then caught a plane to Oakland, California. After driving to Dublin I checked in to the hotel, mapped a route to the office and got groceries for dinner. Tonight I will do some ironing then go to bed early.

Exciting weekend

5:20pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Saturday evening, August 27, 2022. Heading to Scottsdale to have dinner with a friend. Tomorrow, I will drive to Orange County, California to stay with my daughter before traveling to Dublin, California for work. Exciting weekend, lots going on.

Time to slow down

6:14pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Sunday evening, August 21, 2022. Went for a walk this morning, worked out, ran to the store then did a couple loads of laundry. Once we got everything taken care of I took my daughter to dinner. We are in for the night now. Time to slow down and prepare for the week to come.

As best I can

5:49pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Dana Point, California, USA, Saturday evening, August 20, 2022. Spent most of the day at the apartment with my daughter. Went for a walk in the morning and then grabbed dinner along with the mail this afternoon. My daughter’s mom is coming home with a family friend to discuss a healthcare issue with her sister. Sounds like a difficult situation. I will help as best I can.

Time to relax

6:49pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Rancho Mirage, California, USA, Tuesday night, August 16, 2022. Didn’t leave the office until almost six pm because meetings ran long. Then I stopped to get dinner before heading back to the hotel. Time to relax and prepare for tomorrow.

First day of new job

6:46pm, pacific standard time, hotel in Rancho Mirage, California, Monday evening, August 15, 2022. First day of the new job. Things went amazingly well. So much of the hardware and software are similar to what we used in my past job. That will make getting up and running efficient. I spend the rest of the week here (Palm Desert) then shadow other directors before taking my first assignment the beginning of September.

Nice to keep busy

5:40pm, pacific standard time, mall in Mission Viejo, California, USA, Sunday evening, August 14, 2022. Took my daughter and her friend out to run errands and shop for birthday presents. We have been out of the house since one pm today. It is nice to keep busy; helps ward off Sunday afternoon anxiety. We will leave shortly, take the friend home, then head back to the apartment to get ready for the week.

Things will look different

4:26pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Wednesday afternoon, August 3, 2022. More time spent writing today. I also got the oil changed and tires rotated on the car. It is time to plan logistics and prepare for new routines. Chances are I will leave for Orange County a week from tomorrow and start my new job from there. Hard to believe I won’t be spending much time in Arizona any more. I haven’t given notice on my apartment but I also will not be renewing my lease. One way or the other things will look different at the beginning of next year.

Owe it

4:42pm, pacific standard time, apartment in Chandler, Arizona, USA, Tuesday afternoon, July 19, 2022. Had a second interview this morning for the specialist position in California. It seemed to go really well. They are going to make a hiring decision at the end of this week. If I am chosen that gives me enough time to inform the Rancho Cucamonga group I changed my mind. I don’t like going back on my commitment but, the specialist job is better on many levels; financially, personally and professionally. I owe it to my family and myself to move forward if given the opportunity.
